Hye,

It has occured my mind since long times. I want to know if it's possible to create a soft-reflection shading system on maya with the distanceBetween node?

The idea is to "connect" this node to manage the raytrace of relection in oder to blurrer some ray with there distance to the surface...

I've seen on highend3d.com a plugin which called "raytrace node"... I think it can be useful:rolleyes:

I know my explanation isn't realy good :)

Thanks

I dont see why you woulnd't be able to use the distance utility. There is a script at High end I saw once that had a camera hooked to a pair of locators for focal length, I think you could do the same thing with raytracing reflections.

Yes!!
I would like to know how to use this node to create soft-reflections.
eg. what are the connection i've to do with a simple blinn and the distanceBetween(s). Need i to connect the shape too, and do I need other nodes (it can't be so easy)!

HELP ME !

got to this page...

http://highend3d.com/maya/mel/?group=melscripts&section=rendering&sort=file_name

it's called depthOfFieldCamera v1.0

try downloading that and seeing if it is what you want. I think this script will get you going in the right direction. You should be able to adjust the distance of the camera and have everything update automatically. It might take some time, but it would be a pretty neat thing if you get it done.
