just thought i give it a go

i havent got a name for this charecter
i love the movies but i didnt like the book "the hobit" therefor i never read the trilogy
so i dont know much about middle earth

just thought i create a creature that lives in the grass near the hobit village. they are camoflauged ( i know i didnt spell this right) in the grass and live of it.

hopefully youll like it and give me some help.

i got so many things to fix

plus he will have small insect wings, small jacket and some kind of staff.

tell me what you think

asela.

Hi Asela,

I'm now sure if you are aware of the rules of this challenge, but it is a WIP challenge, which means that you are required to post your progress along the way.
You are also only allowed to begin making your creature from the day that the challenge started. Was this model only created after we announced the challenge? If so, please post some progress shots to show us how you put this model together.

Thanks,
Leigh

Your creature is cool.

The hobbit is a childrensbook and not to compare with the lord of the rings trilogy, maybe you wanna give it a try ;)

just the current mesh (not good yet. i am working on it)

fabian: i was thinking about giving the books a chance
will there still be a point after the fantastic films?

of course! you'll meet Tom Bombadil :D
No, seriously, I like the books much more than the films. There are many things mentioned in the book which are not shown in the films.
On the other side, the movies are really good and the books contain about 1400 pages...

The books are awsome but I think they are *insert word which means "made to a film from a book" (verfilmd in DUtch)* as best as possible but it's a shame the couldn't put all the aspects in the game (like Tom Bombadillo idd)

anyway, I really like your creature, it looks like a giant grasshopper and it really reminds me of that grasshopper from 'A Bug's Life' (that mean big boss which I can't remember his name from)

I like the sheald very much and I agree that green is perhaps not the best colour but it's hard to tell at this early stage of texturing.
Keep us up to date!

you can't
but just get some (free) webspace out there...try lycos (dunnow where you live) or something...

OT: model's looking cool, the shield is verrrrrry detailed. And I'm glad you've changed the green skin into something more brownish

i cant beleive your thread has had so little activity!: yours is one of the most progressive characters in the competition. i like your avatar too :)

your detial work is very special. i love the beading on the head and the fauna on the shield is great.
only crit would be the texture on the torso/head (the black one) its a little large in scale: when you have so much fine detail in there its a shame to let such a large proportion of your character be covered by something so relatively drab.
a great entry: keep going. its hard that people dont reply but there are over 150 people in the competition so viewing time is greatly reduced!!

well done!

I like how you set the roach in like a grassy area, and good modeling.Nice details too.Practice on your texturing though ;), but besides that its very intresting and neat.
