View Full Version : NCCA Generalist Showreel
MattBirkett-Smith 07-15-2006, 05:37 PM Hey guys, I've just graduated from the NCCA and I thought I may as well put up my current showreel. I'm a bit of a generalist but I also really enjoy doing character stuff. I'm currently looking at various different job opportunities around the London area.
I'm lucky to be part of the CGtalk animation hosting Beta so hopefully you can view my reel and my other videos here:

Anyway, if you have any comments or feedback please let me know.

I've never understood why put a wip char in your showreel. It's not complete so why would you want to show it off? The texturings were good, but that pretty much came across as well on the male model right after it.
I'm confused why you put the blendshape thing at the end in there too. It's purpose elludes me.
Don't take this as professional advice, but just things to think about. The rest was pretty cool, I don't know about the mime thing you included that was animated by someone else, or showing how you crushed a building, but they were interesting things to include I guess.

Very impressive, amazing work!
From my point of view, your stunning "Skyfall" should be more than enough to get a decent job, but you also have great character modeling/texturing skills. Well, I think there's nothing wrong with your WIP's (although you should "cover" the nudity part).
Not much left to say, except good luck!
btw: Thank you so much for your insightful breakdown and explanation of "Skyfall"!
