Is animating biped in character studio in freeform animation i.e. keyframe animation is same as animating a rig created manually with bones.
In which way they differ from each other.

freeform and keyframe (pose to pose or any kind) is sorta the same. The difference with freeform is that you can mix footstep animation with freeform in trackview - this way you can have a character walking correctly, and then in freeform, animate the char manually.

Obviously, difference with biped and regular bones is biped has the rig set up for you, you can adjust sizes so it matches your character. I'd say that could be a nice timesaver ;)

reading the user reference is really your lifesaver, check it out :)
