hi there all!
so there is my big problem: i wanna make a underwater compozition with some objects and a lot of fishes, crabs and stuff (the beasts are not modelled yet ;).

But before beginning to cry for help, i wanna asure you that i already read everything about this in forums, and no, please don't tell me to consult some gnomon dvds i can't afford. and i post here my question, because i couldn't find a reasonable answer anywhere else.

So, my problem is this: i wannt to achieve the light rays scaterring effect. i did manage to make the parti_volume stuff, but with mr i can't render env_fog, since this is a post-processing node from ms. so the problem is this: i can get spectacular rays, but not the deepness feeling that the env_fog does, or i can get the deep stuff but no rays- or at least only bad loocking rays made with light_fog. i tried to fake this effect with parti_volume and a high DOF, but i didn't achieve the result i wanted.

so, what i wanna kinfly ask is: maybe can somebody create a very simple underwater scene with the stuff i required- or maybe the people that participate by the lightning underwater contest would be wealling to share the settings they used.

i would rather render with maya software, if there is any solution for my problem- beacause i have very big objects like the attached one, and mr crashes whatever i make.

and please, can you post detailed answers- i mean, when somebody says: "well, you must connect a mr lens to the camera" or "try to connect a caustic texture to the light" or something like that, now, that doesn't help much, since i understand nothing about mr materials and so on. in fact mr shading modul is pretty abstuse, so please again, tell me HOW to make such o connection, too.

Thanx in advance

I cant help much but there is an underwater fog texture at highend3d. Hate to chime in and just add that as many do but i have used it in the past and it looked pretty good. Maybe if anything you can use it to see how it was built.
