View Full Version : Is bmrt better than Maya's default renderer?
erwin1978 01-18-2003, 03:49 AM which is a better renderer: maya4 or bmrt?
I'm dying to try radiosity rendering in maya4.
Can someone link me to a working download of bmrt?

Sign up for the bmrt group at groups.yahoo.com you can downlaod it from their once you have registered.
You really need an interface to work with bmrt and maya there are several now .. mtor, mayaman and liquid .. therer are other renders to that are free.
I think bmrt has interesting feature but it also has problems
latest version of bmrt has no motion blur or depth of field :thumbsdow
Why not use 3delight or Aqsis? They are still being developed, you know. :-)

A good stuff if you find a interface Maya/BMRT which work well, is you can work on high-shading by coding easly your own shaders !!!! (in the renderman Shading Langage *.sl).
When Lyr say " latest version of bmrt has no motion blur or depth of field " it's true and realy enervous. But about depth of field, you can render your scene with a depth sahder for all objects and then ad the depth blur at compositing.
For 3d motion blur, I've no idea, but at compositing too, you can add a 2d motion blur realisticly!
Reply us about the interface and show what we can obtain on render! I want change renderer too! Contact me on ndhaussy@free.fr please!
