View Full Version : Theatre de Paris
robingfx 01-18-2003, 02:50 AM Hey! Please critique me hard. I used a little clay sculpture when I modeled it, that’s why it kind of looks like a little model. Someone told me the sky looks a little iffy, does it? Should I model the whole street, even though I only want to show my building? Please crit me on everything you can think of! Thank you!

yeah, it looks like your sky is a different perspective from your 3d camera.
if you want to make it look less like a model, you might want to move the camera lower and decrease the FOV
i like it

hey robingfx :wavey:
...a spacious Paris alley?
I like the buiding a lot, the top part is very strange (in a good way), and the perspective is nice too.
about the sky: I agree with gfx that the perspective doesn't match - but also, the lighting doesn't match. That sky would cast a totally different light than the one cast in the image.
I also agree that a lower angle would be better, it would strengthen the effect you're tryint to get with the shadows.
Just an idea... It's a matter of personal taste, but have you considered making the sky darker and have most of the light come from street lamps? Maybe different color lights too - orange from the street lamps, blue from some windows, red from the sky...?
another suggestion - what if you made this street go in a curve, and not so straight?
...but it's a very promising start. nice texture too.

I love that building!!!
You asked if you should build the rest of the rue and I would say that from looking at this image you'd have to. What I'm trying to say is that give us a render with your final composition and then we can tell you (or then you might see) exatly what needs to be modeled...no need to model things that wont be seen n'est pa?
The sky could use some work to...but again, how much of it will we see in the final render?
Keep up the good work...it has the feel of a Nightmare before Christmas set!
peace,

Thank you guys for the feedback. I have worked a little on it since last (without reading your comments). Idokalir: I may render a night scene later on, but for now I am just gonna leave it the way it is. I get tired fast of my projects :)
