hi I'm using the checker texture to unfold my UV's, but when I look at my model the squares aren't all square, some are rectangles. Anyone knows how I can fix this?

Sounds like you could be having trouble with the placement node. Set to default as a test.

You usually use the checker texture to check if your uv's are laid out uniformly. If the checker is rectangular in some places it means the UV's are stretched in that region. You should tweak the uvs in the area in the UV texture editor.

I recommend to use a file checker texture for unfolding UVs. Mayas checker is procedural and is therefore resampled into a low resolution for viewport display. This leads to an unregular checker, while filetextures are being displayed in full resolution.
