View Full Version : blend shape problem about simulating mucles,forearm,... please heeeeeeeeelp.
siamakcgm 07-13-2006, 07:20 PM hi every one. i'm new in character setup. i did my rig and after that did smooth skin and paint sking weight. and now i want to do muscle deformation with blend shape. i got a bad problem. for example after skining when i want to rotate the forearm my model will deform badly so i have to use blend shape to solve this problem. i did this and it will be good when i am rotating just the forarm but if i rotate the whole arm or bend the elbow, the forearm will deform badly again. i want to know how i can solve this problem and how it is possible to have the forearm blend shape the same after i bend the elbow or the whole arm and don't let it deform again after bending the elbow?(before bending elbow or rotating arm everything is ok) i have this problem about biceps, and other parts. pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaas help me.

My best guess without a screenshot is, that you ´ll need to create a blendshape for each rotation axis (x/y/z) and link the blendshape to the axis with a driven key or an expression. If your model is deforming badly before applying the muscle effects I´d spend some more time skinning as adding several blendshapes on another can be quite menacing. Another solution would be to create corrective blendshapes and add the muscle effects on your local blendshapes geometry after fixing all primary deformation bugs.
Some screenshots would be very helpful though. :)

Hi, just a thought here.
You added your blendshapes after you set up the skinning? I think that's the problem. If it is, there's an easy fix. Try this;
Right click on the bound mesh and then select "inputs" from the menu that appears. On the new side menu choose "All inputs" at the bottom. This now shows the actions that influence the mesh and the order they are considered. Your blendshape node is probably at the top. Drag it down the sequence of events as far as you can using the middle mouse button.
See what effect that has.
Good luck.
