Hi!

I'm new user here in CGTalk, and now i really need your help guys!
Company, who i work for, bought motion capture system, and we need to start creating
animations asap. Whoever i have major problems with Cinema 9.5 and even with 9.6 Demo.

I created character in Cinema, put the bones in and exported it as FBX.
Opened it into Motionbuilder 7.5 Pro. All OK so far! I can animate it in MB with no problems.
I plot the animation, and save all as FBX.

Then i open Cinema, and try to import it back.. I only get small character standing in T-pose, and big cloud of dots moving like the animation. There is no bones in object browser, only null dots.. See picture here (http://koti.mbnet.fi/jehvi/MBC4D.jpg)

I even tried to use the FBX converter that came with the MB 7.5 to convert it to FBX 5.
No luck, converter just hangs.. Then i downloaded allmost same converter from Autodesks website. (That converter is older?, because FBX -> FBX page doesn't have version options, like in the converter that came with the MB7.5 Pro installation). FBX ver. 5 gives same results.

I even tried to export the MB tutorial scene, where Edward char jumps.. same result, so it is not my own character causing it..

What's wrong?!? So many people are using C4D -> MB - C4D pipeline, so i now that it should work without problems.. and i'm getting really desperate, because we capture lot's of motion data but we cant use it yet.. And i defenetly want to use C4D for final renderings..

Please somebody help!!

If my memory serves me right, there were reported compatibility problems with MB 7.5 and Cinema 9.x.
MB 5.5 - Cinema combo works fine here.

Until Autodesk ships the new SDK and Maxon update their plugins accordingly, you'll have to use earlier FBX versions on export - or use the FBX converter, provided that it's not a part of 7.5 and that Autodesk(alias) still have it.

edit. Sorry, somehow missed the fact that you had probs with the converter as well (sounds like bug).

Like I said, I haven't used 7.5, but I found this workaround from somewhere:

-Plot animation as usual in MB 7.5.
-In MB 7.5, delete all "extras" (such as control rigs, character faces and other stuff not needed in C4D)
-Save two files out of MB 7.5: options "save to" & "export (animation only)"
-Import into C4D 9.6 in two phases:
First in C4D, go to Preferences -> FBX 6.0 Import -> Bone Options activate "Keep Rest Pose". You can now import the fbx file and your character appears in T_Stance (charcter face animations are applied).
-Deactivate "Keep Rest Pose" and now merge the animation only .fbx file you exported from MB 7.5. Now the animation jumps to your character. Now you can transfer all you texture tags to your animation.
