View Full Version : FastFur - Combing Test

Hello All,

I'm researching a way to make easy combing. Here first result.

I thought to add some spline guide to the fastfur:

Interface:

http://www.jun.it/CombingInterface.jpg

Now i've implemented one spline to comb the main body of the monster.
Each spline have a radius falloff and one spline that modulate the combing in the spline lenght.

Here some result with one spline. Some things need to be fixed, some vertex map need to be refined (the density and lenght map).

More wip will coming about combing.

Thanks to Cactus Dan and Mr. Braun for this model.

My best Regards

Good work!

BTW: What kind of AA settings do you need to render the hair without aliasing?

Cool. I think that you just made every current F&F owner more anxious with that vid. :) Can't wait to get my hands on the new version.

Hi all :)

Here with 2 spline for combing.

http://www.jun.it/8.jpg

This way seem to be good to comb.. pretty easy to setup. FastFur give a faster feedback on it. I used the optimization backface so the shadow on the back of the monster is without furs.. but it is just an optimization.

I just noticed that you quietly announced that v2.0 is coming soon, but for 100 (~$126). You also quote a 77 introductory price with a free update.

Is the 77 an "early bird" sort of price where anybody who buys now will get the v2 upgrade when its eventually released? I guess, in that case, the 100 price would take effect once v2 is actually online, right?

I guess my real question is how is this going to affect current license holders? You only state that the "update for customers will be free". There doesn't seem to be an written or implied differentiation between current customers and those looking to "early bird".

Exactly how is this going to work? Just wondering if I'm going to have to pay an upgrade fee or (shudder) buy a totally new license for v2.

Hello Cookepuss,

The 2.0 release that is in fact a new rewritten fastfur with shader, clump and a combing way that i hope will give good result with the NetRendering dynamics working.
So it's a major release.. i think that is a good step foward for FastFur.

The price will be 100 euros. For FF customers, is an update price of 20 euros.

This will help me to continue developmen and research on the simulation of fur :)

Will F&F V2 still run on C4D 9.1 ?

Say yes, say yes Please...:bounce:

3D_Explorer: what a sweet image! :)

hentsteph: FF 2.0 is wrote on 9.1 SDK. But i think that i can compile it on 8.5 without probs.

Cheers
RenatoT

Edit:

I need to tell you all that FF have not the complex dynamic like Hair.clothilde, it work with simplified dynamics of fur that can help in most case to animate fur.

FastFur 2.0 cannot simulate complex dynamic of hair! ... yet

Hi all,

here another wip for the incoming release of FastFur. 2 mins - 18 secs. rendering time.
262.000 furs, 1.5 M polys. 2 Spline Guide with falloff and intensity.

Hi Renato,

Wow, fabulous images, the upgrade fee for current owners is extremely reasonable :)

Being a user that still uses 8.5 it would be great to see F&F still available for 8.5 :)

Cheers Renato, great work!

Hi Renato

These images are looking really good and the upgrade fee is very, very reasonable. I'm looking forward to the release of F&F 2.0. Keep up the great work and I will be supporting you to continue your research and development of C4D plugins.

Kind Regards

Justin

Sorry Jon,
I don't guarantee that will be ok for 8.5 too because maybe that i used some things of the 9.1 sdk. When ready to release i'll check it.

Thanks all for your support :)

Hi Renato,

Ok, no problems, be great if it did work but no problems if it doesn't.

Do you know when you are going to be releasing the latest 1.x version? I am currently still using 1.5 beta.

Thanks
Jon

Hello Jon,

i don't know because i'm debugging, optimizing and adding new features to fastFur.
I'm on the good point today.

Just now i got the rendertime of the monster in the 50% of time with some caching tips.
So the render in 1280x960 get now 12 secs to prepare that 1.10 mins to render.
