Hey everyone ,

Here's a character I designed. I'm coloring it with painter, I'll keep posting it's progress. So far I have the skin done.

Hey, Yaotl that looks great!
I know how difficult it is to get sharp clean lines with digital painting, but painter seems to do better than most.
I can't wait to see it finished, nice shading!!

That looks pretty cool. Nice original design and good coloring. And you got the backlighting done on the arms. Backlighting is awesome and you got it down.
The only thing that really bugs me is the pants. The line quality around the pants seem unsettling. The lineart works everywhere else, but the pants look silky smooth and the dark line around it kinda wrecks that texture. I dunno, thats more a personal preference.
Otherwise a wicked piece. Keep it up!

I actually like the pants the best. Fold in fabric can be difficult, but you seem to have got it down. The shading would be perfect for a displacement map.

Thanx for the comments Creepstown 'n Judas, appreciate it. I actually kept one version of the piece without the heavy black outline. Without it it looks a little more realistic, but I'm not quite going for realism. In my next thread I'll probably add more pics of the style I'm going for.

I am just curious.....

I think the character is a chick..it appears that way to me but yet she has no breasts???

If it is a girl then i suggest that you add in the breasts if possible cause it looks kinda funny otherwise.

If it is not a chick then forgive my silliness ;)

Other than that I love the piece  Great color choices too :) .

Keep up the good work

Yes, cool work yaotl!

No Saintofsmoke, that's a guy! I guess it's his eyes ...but accordin' to the color choices we can imagine that this guy is Korean (or somethin' like that) . ;)

Anyways, great pic!

Well I guess it's not that bad if his face is a little feminine at first glance. He's just a bit of a pretty boy I guess. Thanx for the coments, though. Every opinion is a good thing to know. And check out my new post about comic book girls here:

excellent drawing. and i love to follow the progress.
i like the concept and coloring.. the only thing that can suggest
is to look over the saturation in the clothes, i think the red is a litle to bright and also the black.

anyhow the painting is excellent :)

Are you Cajun from Miami. Sorry if you ain't, It's just that I have a friend we call Caj and I was surprised to hear from him. Anyways, thanx Caj. To answer the question, this process ranges between the 8-12 hours that if I put in at once can be a day, but I usually take breaks. This one took me a few days spreading the hours around.
