Go to your plug-in manager (Window->Settings/Preferences->Plug-in Manager) and make sure Mental Ray and Vector Render are loaded. I believe that they are called Mayatomr and VectorRender.

I have same problem here, my temp solution is to open up old scene with Mental Ray option selected, then the MR render is available again.
any real solution? Mine only developed such problem after I added some 3rd party shader and plug in, it was working fine before....

Yeah. Turn it back on and to autoload in the plug-in manager.

I looked in the plugin manager when I first had the problem but somehow I overlooked the vector thing and was looking for something to strait out say "Mental Ray". Anyways, Cool : )

I think it stands for "Maya to MR" (Mental Ray) if that helps you remember for the future. It helped me.

Dude, Back Off. Do you know how many posts there are here that is answered simpley in the help files? For your info I did look through the help files. I did a forum search. For some reason I must have been doing a search for the wrong things or something. This is a forum where people post for help, if your not willing to offer that in my thread then why post? Just to be rude?
Thanks alot to anyone that helped!
