TheLegend299 01-17-2003, 08:05 PM It's early days yet but I was wondering what you thought so far, anything blaringly obvious that I've missed?

Looks like an excellent start. While you're at this stage you might ask yourself what this character's personality is really like. Is he type-A, grumpy, efficient, bumbling, cutthroat, etc.? I guess what I'm saying is that you have a good character, but he doesn't have a lot of personality yet. I know it's in progress. :)

I want the character to be unsuccessful yet snobbish, so he will be a bit battered and dirty

Sorry for the lack of updates, here's the body. I'm going to add a little more detail and add some creases to the fabric, also I'll fix that bit of clipping; anything else?

Nice! I'd add some more detail to the hat, like a more defined transition between the rim and the crown, and probably a dent in the crown (not sure what that's called).

Hey, I like the character... looks good so far.
I would agree with Adam on some of his comments.
Just curious... did you sketch the character before you started modeling? If so... does it live up to your sketches?
Let me say it this way... I, coming from an illustrative background, found that I was settling for things in my models that I would have never settled for in my illustrations... so I have recently started scanning in illustrations of different angles to model from and my modeling has improved. I would reccommend that to you. I think some of the lack of character in his face that Adam is alluding to is because of the distinct "3d" look that he has...
I think he is great and is really getting there, but I think his face lacks some emotion that I am guessing was in your head but might not have translated to the model. If you can draw even a lick, I would suggest you model from your sketches and take out some of the guesswork when it comes to 3d time.

wesware I have sketched before I modeled and it has come out as I expected, I wanted him to expressionless to make him easier to rig and texture when this is done his emotion should be brought out more:beer: . Speaking of texturing I don't suppose anyone knows of any good face tuts as it would save me some time.
