Ok, well I took a brief(4 month) vacation from modeling and i'm starting to get used to it the way I was before again. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I would go about modeling a car.. Yeah I know theres a million tutorials about modeling cars, but I want to know what you guys think is the best way, patch, mesh, poly, or whatever else you can think of... (Not asking for like in depth step by step, just what you guys prefer) Thanks

hi,

i think the real question is what do YOU prefer?
Try all the differents way of modeling, you'll find yours.

And for answer to ya, nurbs are pretty great for cars.

Hi,

I haven't tried to model any cars yet, but I agree with antonn, modeling is a personal thing. I've seen great cars modeled with nurbs. splines and poly modeling (plus variations). I've also seen not so great models with the same techniques. You need to try each and see which works best for you.

So far I've found that my fav modeling technique is poly modeling.

I like polymodeling myself too...but i'm open to try new things ;).. I just get stumped when i see these sweet lookin models heh..i can't do half the stuff I see in cars(ie hard edges with what looks like meshsmoothed objects)..but I keep trying

Well if you look at the pros and cons of each... patch/spline is nice for progressive detial... but polymeshing makes it soo easy to get those nice curves... plus with the new subdivide tools in epoly, you really have the power of localized sub-d style modeling...

Personally I use a combination of spline/poly modeling... I'm hoping to get around to writing a tutorial on my method soon...
