View Full Version : Gods/Demons - Character - Jeron
Jeron 03-13-2002, 01:41 PM Well i guess i'll try my hand at this challenge also. I'll be doing Thor the Nordic God of Thunder!
As i have no drawing skills whatsoever I probably wont be posting a concept sketch (unless i can get one of our animators here at work to draw me one), but I'll be sure to post a wip as soon as i get started.

Well here's my first upload.
While waiting for a character concept I decided to start modelling the most important prop - Mjollnir - Thor's Hammer. This is what he uses to create ligthning with.
Let me know what you think

Hey, cool Mjollnir so far - but I think it needs a lot more detail. I'm impressed that you actually modelled the knot design instead of using a bump map :) Isn't there normally a lightning bolt along the shaft?

Thanks for the input Leigh
If you say more details, I'll be adding more details then ;)
Yea I decided to model the knot design since this is a modelling challenge - othewise i prolly would have made a bump map for it.
I looked at a lot of pictures of viking jewlery for inspiration. I guess ill take another cruise of the web to find some pics of mjollnir maybe.

*nice* modeling I say. Here's (http://www.dickinson.edu/~eddyb/mythology/Gods-2.html) also a page with good pictures.
It's not that you need help ;)
