CornFielD 01-17-2003, 04:40 PM She is the thing in my life
She moved away
I thought that she could be my wife
She is gone today
Tears are flooding in my veins
Why every day it rains?
I tried to paint it away
I'm lucky! This wasn't my day
It's not painted from living model, but photograph that I used wasn't scanned! (not cheated in this one)
(silly hat that she is wearing is hat that we get when we graduate from highschool)

The hat looked military. Finnish Navy? lol. But the pic is pretty good. You kept the perspective quite accurate. My only suggestion would be to put some highlights and colors into her hair that are similar to the way you did the skin (which is great by the way). That way we can see the waves in her hair. Right now it is a big black splotch on my screen and is the same color as the dress.

dmcgrath: thanks for crits
yes I agree that hair and dress needs a little bit work and whole painting is a bit messy. I could have done more smoothier picture but I was afraid that it would ruin the whole painting. It's very difficult to decide when the work is ready!
Now I am trying to study colours with traditional oils on real canvas. It helps!! with computer everything is too easy. It's like some righthanded people draw porpotions better with their left hand! because they consentrate more what they are drawing.
It's nice to do something with real colors, but cg is my way to go!
