Im woking on an hd 1080 project and i've got some flourish type designs, I know you can animate mask around them to reveal the image like it's being drawn in but it's rough and hard to get as smooth as i'd like.

I tried to use the stroke plugin and animate the start and end to reveal layer works great but one problem the brush size is limited to 50 so it will not show reveal all of the layer. I don't know a work around this can i hack the plugin to increase the size is there a way to scale,is there another one that will do the same but is not as limited. I really need help on this one im approaching the deadline.

note. I'ts just the stroke plugin applied to the a line mask around the layer. thanks in advance

Check out effect > transition > gradient wipe. Basically it uses greyscale values to reveal over time... so you can make a gradient or even a more complex hand crafted image to reveal the shapes you want in a complex or simple manner. I have seen it work nicely before.

Well I tried what your talking about but it only seemed to apply it to the whole layer rather than from left to right over time, I need it to appear as if i'ts drawn in like a pencil the stroke works but it won't cover the whole layer. If im missing something about that transition then let me know. thanks

figured it out i had the vector layers scaled too large before i imported them they are smaller before i import then I scale them up and it works like a charm
