View Full Version : city scene need help
blc318 03-13-2002, 10:23 AM I decided to turn an old render into a night scene. I got some work done tonight but I need some help with the lighting. I think it needs more but I want to keep some areas dark. The planks on the window were done in about 10 minutes but they are temporary for now. Any suggestions would be helpful.

edit: The light from the window doesnt seem to be casting shadows b/c of a bias setting in max I havent changed.

Hey, Nice work!
You can add an omni light like it was a spot light on the middle of the street, you know what I mean right?
But very faint, or you'll screw the image :)

Overall I think this piece is very well rendered. I only have a few suggestions. First, retexture/texture the steal beams. They look flat and CG in comparisoin to the richly decayed scene around them. I'm also quite confused on what that red thing in the lower corner is. Whatever it turns out to be, pop a better texture on that too. Your lighting is great. As a last note, maybe dirty the street alittle more. Like with turn newsprints or trash. Anywho, looks great so far.

Thanks everyone keep the crits coming.
Whirlwind those are on the to do lis:)
I forgot to mention some areas werent textured yet. And trash will come in the future. It actually started as a texturing exercise for a class I had. I took a picture of a real city scene, took pics of the main textures I needed and tried to light it the same way (which is the daytime pic)
