Coming Soon - Group Workshop: Open Courseware Anatomy Video Lecture Series

I just discovered through a link (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=447691) in General Discussions to Berkeley's Open Courseware Website.

I found this Open Courseware Class from Berkeley:

http://www.berkeley.edu/images/home/berkeley_lg.gif

General Human Anatomy (http://webcast.berkeley.edu/courses/archive.php?seriesid=1906978375)
http://webcast.berkeley.edu/courses...esid=1906978375 (http://webcast.berkeley.edu/courses/archive.php?seriesid=1906978375)

And thought that we could do Group Workshops here on the Anatomy Forum where each week, we would watch an Anatomy Video (not all of them, many do not apply to Artistic Anatomy - the course is geared toward science not art students) and then do an exercise based on the topic of the video.

Please go to the thread below to post your feedback / ideas:

>>>Coming Soon - Group Workshop: Open Courseware Anatomy Video Lecture Series<<< (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?p=4110365#post4110365)

Also, if anyone finds another link to another school with a good Anatomy Course, please post that link to the thread linked above! :)

Hi everyone,

It's long overdue, but I want to put together the SPOTLIGHT threads together for both Anatomy Lesson Series Workshops.

If you have done any recent work for / from these Workshops then please post your finished work to the respective threads:

Anatomy Lesson Series: Body Part 1 - The Head (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=199&t=375031)
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=199&t=375031

http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=199&t=405198

I want to get these threads together by around April / May when I'm hoping to do the SPOTLIGHT for Year 2 of the Anatomy Forum.

So please post work if you have not done so to these respective threads so that I can include them in the SPOTLIGHT threads for these Workshops! :)

(Please do not repost work that is already there as I will be culling the work that is already posted from these threads).

*Please note that this is not an announcement of a new Workshop.

Live Workshop in San Diego, CA - JP Targete at Studio 2nd Street (Ron and Vanessa Lemen) (http://studio2ndstreet.com/wkshp_pgs/workshop_jp.html)

>>>LINK<<< (http://studio2ndstreet.com/wkshp_pgs/workshop_jp.html)

Making a Cover Illustration
…a workshop with
J P Targete

Saturday May 19-Sunday May 20
10am-6pm both days

DAY 1:
10am - 1pm - Sketching and concepting from the minds eye, with lecture and discussion, practicing brainstorming and sketching techniques...the key to expanding your creativity.

2pm - 6 pm - Student sketching - students should bring a sketch pad, vine charcoal, markers and 11"x14" pad, students will sketch freely, using some of the techniques learned from the lecture, there will be a class critique with key points such as how to unleash creativity, where the focus is not about technical skills, but more about getting a flow to sketching.

DAY 2:
10am - 1pm - Starting an illustration, applying more technical aspects to a previous sketch done the day before, with a lecture on technique, color, materials, etc.

2pm - 6pm - Finishing the image, taking the image to completion - with discussion regarding what works for reproduction, more about technique, blending, keeping edges clear and distinct, reproducing the work, sending it off to the client, also with a discussion about contracts and other business aspects.

(exact times for lunch break may vary)

The fee for this 2-day workshop is $150

BODYWORLDS 3 contacted me about this great opportunity for artists - originally these sessions were going to be shorter but they were kind enough to listen to my suggestion to lengthen each session to 4 hours each:

http://rebeccakimmel.com//gallery/albums/Misc/BODYWORLDSartistsnights.jpg

"Attached is info on the Artist Nights that we'll be hosting at the BODY
WORLDS 3 exhibit at the California Science Center, Wed., July 23 and Thurs.,
July 31 -- both sessions are 5:00-9:00 p.m.

During these sessions, artists and students (age 18+) are invited to sketch
the exhibition's human anatomy specimens alongside live figure drawing
models. There's a $2-off discount for each night, making each admission
$16.95, and we'll have free mini-posters for people that attend both nights."

Be advised that parking is about $4 in cash.

Not so much an announcement for a Workshop, but I thought that this would be of interest. I've created a blog for the forum for those with an interest but not necessarily the time to keep up with the posts on the Anatomy Forum. Here I'll be highlighting some of the good work that is posted to the forum, along with Anatomy related information that you may find interesting. Check it out and subscribe for updates! Happy New Year! :)

Hey everyone,

I'm extending the deadline for the IFW #001 (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=199&t=724187&page=1&pp=15) to next Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009 which gives everyone an extra week to work on and polish up their entries for the Workshop.

Please ONLY POST YOUR BEST WORK to the Workshop thread, and not multiple WIPs with very few changes. I'm removing the posting limit which didn't seem to work for the Workshop format (hey, we're human) :) but kindly respect that the Workshop has a large group and only so many key WIP images are necessary to post before your final.

Thank you to everyone who has participated so far, there have really been some amazing entries!
