Hi! New member here... I'm rather nervous about posting in a forum with such great artists, but I'm hoping to benefit from it as much as I can and improve ^_^.

Here's my sketch:

After 1 hour:

I tried to make it look like she was covered in golden body paint or something, but I guess I wasn't very succesful.. Maybe I'll work more on this to get it the way I want later some time.

AAwww. Brittany you own as always... Mmf not fair. If only you could tell me it took you ages to get that good I'd feel a whole lot better :).

Here's my entry. I've considered removing the face and hand... And if I did it'd only be a 20 minutes sketch, but this is a 30 minutes one. I tend to go overtime lately :P

thanks, May-lea. I have been drawing all my life, and I'm in art school having to create art daily to meet deadlines for class. So, I guess I've had lots of practice.
And I do like your golden tooth fairy - good idea

I've been drawing pretty much all my life too, but haven't been in an art school. This said, just out of sheer curiosity I've been checking the average ages of people posting on this forum, and I'm one of the oldest. /cry

I bet you aren't older than me - 33 -- been drawing/painting for only 8 months :D

And I still browse here, but I haven't been inspired to join in weeks :(

I am amazed at what others can do in half an hour... wow.

Thanks, Mordalles ^_^. It was only after I posted that I realized that the theme was gold the colour, and not gold the thing... oops!

I just got photoshop, and this is my first go at it!
So far I like it more that any other program I've used.

Finnished the sketch 25 minutes in:

And here's about 1 1/2 hours in.

Not quite what I wanted, and I got too lazy for the LOTR inscription on the ring.

Hey all,

well Ive been playing around today in AFX and made a video, It may be an easter egg in a company showreel we've been making:

Heres the link: http://media.putfile.com/Gold-Egg (3mb wmv)

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/8840/playinaround1hm.jpg

Why post it here? well it started off with a golden easter egg, and features 3 people that really like the DSF (Vitriolic, no1gashuffer and myself), and also I quite liked making it and noone will really get to see it - I wanted to share the love :)

no1gashuffer did the 3d, I Afx'd and Vitriolic just blew stuff up.

Great Stuff - Really odd easter egg there. Which one of you is which?

My attempt at gold:

EDIT: Added another 30 minutes of work to get in all the elements I should've put in in the first place:

These really cannot compare - but I LOVE the color topics, they allow for so much leeway in what you can paint.

I had fun and felt a little inspired, I suppose that is what counts! All of them are 25 mins::::

Hey Dargon, hole thing was meant to be a bit cheesey, Due to the fact we work really hard(every day) to make our work look good.

Digital_embryo is the one with the headphones.
No1gashuffer is (me) in the middle. Our Art director is on the right Skull-man:buttrock:.
Vitriolic is the guy at the end.

Its one big happy family.
