Hi,

I've just registered and I wanted to show you one of my first Maya-projects.
It was for a 3D-contest at another forum (gathering.tweakers.net).

I'm not fully satisfied with the result, but I don't think it's very bad for the first time. :)

hey fellow tweaker ;)

Voor de rest vind ik het mooi, keep it up :)

in english, euh...nice work :D

Oh, hoi ! :)

guys, you really should be talking english around here :) (stelletje maffe tweakers)

but i think the lightning of the scene is a bit bland and a couple of your textures are streching... other than that; keep it up! it's only one of your first :)

hmm my first post :buttrock:

i'm affraid i'm not a tweaker...
but as i'm not a maya user, i wanted to know.. how have you managed to get a stunning tree in the same scene as some primitive shape castles? [and i don't mean to sound harsh]

I realise it is your first attempt, i was just wondering if you imported the tree model from somewhere else?

The models are all made by myself in three weeks. That were the rules for the contest.
The castles are very primitive because I had to hurry to be on time for the deadline. Making a tree is not very difficult in Maya when you use PaintFX. With PaintFX you can make a tube an specify values for the number of splits, splitangle, number of, etc. for branches, twigs, leaves and buds.
But it just costed me a few days to get it perfect.

Maikel, it's a pity you ran out of time.. are you going to keep on working on it?

get the rest of the scene to the same quality as the tree? cos i'd love to see it completed

at least try to fix the textures on the castles !

Well, I don't have the scene-files anymore (lots of troubles with Windows XP). And I don't know if I could make it all the same quality as the tree, because the tree was a lot of standard-functionality in Maya (PaintFX). The part I actually modelled from the tree is the trunk with the face. The branches are actually +/- 5 tree's on top of the tree. :)
The texture on the castles doesn't look nice because of the distance. When I rendered the castles from a close distance, they looked nice.

nice, but I find it surprising to see the difference in detail,
the tree and the bridge are pwnage but the towers lack detail imo
