Ok, I was planning on posting some stuff once this was more finished, but I decided to hop on the bandwagon and see what everyone thought of my most recent WIP for 3D Character Animation class. The model is done, what you see is a Polygon cage converted from Subdivisions with a subdivide of 1 on the conversion. I lost some detail when I converted but this was a temporary MentalRay render and subd's do not render in MentalRay (one of the MANY headaches of subd's).

There IS a jaw structure in place that is not finished and not included in the render and there is slightly more detail in the end of the fingers where the nails grow from which was lost on this conversion.

The point of this is just to get some idea of how people think this is looking and any suggestions anyone might have. I have also included a VERY temporary render with textures, it will give you a basic idea of color scheme as well as a partially completed (and overdone atm) bump map. I have not yet included a spec, reflect or diffuse map in the shader. The finished shader will also likely have a second color layer for veins. As far as the texture goes, any comments are welcome as to where you think it should progress from here but keep in mind that this is a full-fledged pre-alpha stage shader!

Without further adeu, I give you, my ogre:

Thanks for any advice or comments.

I like the look of the ogre it has great character and an origonal slant on the traditional design. The materials definitely need some more work. It is very flat almost like tree bark, I would give that a bit more thought and testing I think.

Great start though, keep it going
