Hi all this is my first contest my first forum and my first sketch, any responses and ideas are welcome. I started blocking out the first part of my model but Ive got along way to go. I really love this place so far so I cant wait to get to know all of you. Theres so much talent here I feel like I can learn so much.

Hi there! Really cool idea so you have there! Isn't it the creature from the Aries astrological sign? I like the fact that he has a tail - most people would design a body like that and then go and give it legs with hooves (not that there is anything wrong with that - it's just that there are already a lot of designs like that).

You should make the tail covered with scales (in my opinion) - it would make it even more interesting. :) And by that, I mean, actually model the scales - tough job, but it would look SO cool!
With regards to texturing it, just cover the top half with hair/fur.
For the horns I would recommend getting a good reference of bucks or rams horns so that you can really model in the detail that they need (all those grooves and bumps - a bump map just doesn't cut it. Displacement map might be a good idea ;))

Otherwise, why not post the model you have so far (even if it is still rough), so we can all see how it's going!! :)

i think what my esteemed and feminine colleague meant to say was... the Capricorn sign...

i digress, a great sketch, the coils are a great visual element...
to show the sheer size, you may want to twist them more over each other with emphasis on the weight and softness that they would have..
anyhoo, great start, look forward to the model.

Really cool ! Love the way you blocked the forms, really nice design ! I'm impatient to see it in 3D !

cool thanks for the ideas. Ill definitely try to model the scales for the tail. Ill post up an image of how its comming along later today. Im at work at the moment, but when I get a chance Ill show ya what Ive got. Im not sure if the rules alow it but If I have time in the contest Ill probably do an animation with my finished model.

well unfortunately i was unable to finish the challenge. Im gona have to try for the next one, my company had way to much much for me to do over this last month but im positive ill have time on this next one. Thanks all for the encouragement. Its been great seeing all this talent.
