Hi all,

I see that Issue 1 of the highly anticipated Highend Magazine has now shipped from DMG publishing.

Anyone have their issue yet?

I was an original iC3D magazine subscriber, but after getting only two issues, of which the content was of a sub-standard, iC3D fell over and was no longer published. DMG did the right thing and have transferred the old subscription to the new Highend Magazine.....and it's been a long time coming!!!

Please post your first impressions if u have received your copy.....

Regards,
RiBRaT

Is this magazine affiliated with www.Highend3d.com or is it just a coincidence? And will it be sold on newstands and in the States?

I have been getting Cinefex, Animation Magazine, and 3D World lately and it cant hurt to add more! :applause:

I'm also curious to see what they cramed in there. I mean you can find everything on the web nowadays from tutorials to reviews and that without pages of ads!

Sites like:
http://www.cgtalk.com
http://www.3dfestival.com
etc...

Not here as of yet, but I have hope.

Although when I subscribed like almost a year ago the community wasn't at the great point it is now, I may just cancel after the first one. Don't need more wasted paper with vid card and computer ads.

I got my copy in the mail yesterday. At first I found it a little pricey and kinda slim. But then I noticed there really weren't any ads in it. The articles and interviews were great. They cover all the major highend packages. It had a lot of stuff you don't find online. There are tons of high quality pictures printed on high quality paper. I'm sure you've seen most of these online, but they look ten times better in print than on screen. The best thing about the mag is that it features artists you know (from this and other online communities) as well as working professionals.

I went ahead today and subscribed for the year! Its a high quality mag. I hope the next issues have a little more meat on their bones, though. This one leaves me wanting more.

And yes, it is affiliated with Highend3d.com and The Gnomon School. Will McCullough (from Highend) and Alex Alvarez (from Gnomon) are among its cheif editors.

Check out http://www.highend3d.com/mag/ for more details and ordering info. Its not too late to get the 1st issue.

Sounds good. Congratulations to Will and the team putting together the mag. I know that it's been a long time in the making.

I'm looking forward to get it. I paid up front for four copies last spring/summer (Looong wait). Sadly it will take four to six weeks to get it in the mail :surprised:

I recieved my copy last week.

I think it could have used some more content. The stories and tutorial are actually very helpful, but I think for how much the mag cost, there should have been either more indepth and added some more articles.

someone above mentioned there were no advertising, but the font used must have been at least 4 times larger than normal for a magazine.

however, having said that, I think they delivered what they promised...if only there was a tad more so I didn't feel unsatisfied after the hour or so it took me to read it from cover to cover.

Hi all,

We'll, I got my copy today - I am a very happy chap right now.

The content is of the nature one would expect with a title of "Highend Magazine". True to it's promise it's high quality reading.
