If you go to the movie website, you'll see that Japan has it on dvd. Why does Japan get all the good stuff? I would hope we'd get it fairly soon.
Edit: oops...following more links shows it's available at Amazon.

Thanks for posting this, Rick! It would be great if it got good ratings, which for the Sci-Fi Channel aren't near what's "good" for networks. I actually don't get the channel so I don't know if they've been advertising it; hopefully they have. I don't get any more money if it does well (and I still haven't broken even on the film), but it would be great if it did well enough to make the powers-that-be over at Sci-Fi sit up and take notice. It would also be a nice tribute to my lead actor, who died unexpectedly last month (at 44). I'd always promised him that I'd get the film on Sci-Fi.
So tell all your friends to watch! Tell your enemies! And if you have a Tivo, set it to record the movie, then play it back that night (even if you don't watch it). Tivo (but not the other services, I think) is now incorporated into the ratings somehow, but the show must be played back that night or the next day.
If you're a regular poster on any other forums, or even in other areas of CGTalk (i.e. for other apps), please post there for me so I don't have to look like the spammer that I so much want to be about this. :) (I'll post to the LW section here though, because I know a lot of people there. Plus it's definitely LW related.)
Cheers,
Fred

I'm looking forward to it. Sorry to hear about the lead actor passing away.
Hope it does very well for you.
If you have time, could you post some details such as production time, messiah effects production time, and any pertinent info regarding your use of messiah for the creaturework?
I'm sure we'd all be interested. And, any "special features/making of" on the dvd?
Thanks,
Rick

No special features on the DVD, unfortunately. There just wasn't time to get anything done. I have a little "making of" on the web site, and I'll be putting more stuff up at some point, including a downloadable commentary that can by synched up with the DVD.

By the way, being Sci-Fi Channellless here at the moment, if someone happens to Tivo a commercial for the film can you please upload it?
Thanks,
Fred

Ive seen that movie. I actually bought a used copy of the dvd at a store just because it has messiah stuff in it, and havent seen it since. Is that a rare dvd? I think I might have resold it in a big pile of stuff at one point (this was some time ago that I had a copy.)
Very sorry to hear about the actor, what was his name again? Has he done other work too?
Congratulations about the movie airing on tv!

IMPORTANT: If you live on the west coast and have DirecTV or Dish Network, it's on at 5pm. Those systems show the east coast feed of Sci-Fi.

Dang! Got home too late from work and missed it Fred. I did, however, see it for rental at the Hollywood Video here in Northern California :-)

Congratulations, Fred! Very nice job. Altho' I had to miss the first 20 minutes, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality throughout. One doesn't expect a lot from a first time low budget venture, and I usually sit there disappointed.
Your directing was very good, down to the staging and composition of shots, and overall flow. ANd for your first film, exceptional. I'm sure you had some input with the actors as well, and got good performances from them. A couple of scripted lines seemed off, but those were very minor.
Sasquatch was good, but I loved the bolder shots, and those that ran a bit longer than the flashes of fury (or is that furry). At the climax, and the final attacks, I would swear there was at least one full body cg hero shot. It seemed to have more weight and power, and pehaps was a bit broader in action. That could have been a misperception on my part. (I know the long distance shots with the model of the actress were.) But I thought it had something "more".
Hope you get a great return on your investment.
Best,
Rick

Fred,
I think for your first film it was decent. Not everyone can say their first film got so much press and even aired on television. Nice job!
The one thing I must say is that there wasn't enough going on with the characters and the story to keep me interested. The least I think for the average joe sitting through film, is you could have paid the girl to do a topless shot. Certain cuts between the visual fx shots and the live action plates were a little discontinious. Looking at this film, I don't think a CG monster was necessary(I would have looked into constructing an articulated face mask) but in the end you used Cg to the best it could have been within your budget.
All in all, I would like to see your next project take shape and hopefully its integration with messiah.
btw, in case anyone missed it you can download it from torrentspy.com in their TV section. If you still don't get it, you can get from your local hollywood video store.

Congrats Fred! When will the DVD be available for the US market? Sorry to hear about the lead actor as well ... so young. :(The DVD's been available in the US since April of last year; ironically, on the anniversary of Titanic's sailing. It's available from Amazon, and cheap. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007OCG6K/flickerscope-20)
