Hello everyone!

I'm currently in a dilemma. I know I would want to buy some Ram, but I see so much of them, please help...

What is the difference between Ram, Sram, Sdram, Ddram, etc?

Thanks!

really as of today (as far as system building goes) you only need to know about two types of ram.

there is Synchronous D-RAM (or SDRAM) and Double Data Rate Synchronous D-RAM (DDR-SDRAM, or sometimes DDR for short).

SDRAM is 168 pin, while DDR is 172 pin. these are not physically compatible due to the pin size differences.

both types of ram come in different speeds. basically you need to match up the speed of the ram with the speed your motherboard and CPU front side bus (FSB) can run.

your motherboard manual will tell you in detail which type of RAM you need to install into your system.

Ummm, Elvis, there is also 184-pin DDR, as in PC2100, PC2700, etc....

sorry, my bad. DDR is indeed 184 pin. :)
