I had already finished this when I saw that someone else had already drawn a horse.. I am so glad they picked this theme, I really needed to practise drawing clouds.

Those things 'in the clouds' are some type of kite.... I don't really know. I wanted there to be a feeling of patriotism/hope/victory, or something like that. ... it all just kinda evolved as I worked on it.

I spent another 5mins to change the colours a bit on Daws suggestion - he was correct about the orange being too much, but now I feel I lose too much range of colour...meh

There is a myth about the earth mother and sky father who loved eachother very much, Though whos children became too cramped and pushed them apart creating a void between them and allowing earths children to roam free, Sky fathers tears are the rain and Earth mother returns their sorrow as myst.

Used ref for sky colours and posed from Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel stuff

Nice, I now manage to get compliments even without posting a sketch :o
Wait to see my entry before saying it's awesome :) Who knows, I might make something very crap-looking. But that also implied my other sketches are awesome. That's too nice to be true..
But thanks anyway :)

Hey thanks Daw you're right about the orange I made some colour adjustments and reposted, but hmmm now the colours do not look very dynamic or something - oh well I must make better choices of colour pallete in the begining

And wow I really like your 3rd image with the plunger - its 3d no? - looks fabulous!

Surrealix - good use of brush for texture but be careful to hide it - your leaves repeat too much

Coriolat - I like it - nice quick subtractive land too

Mats Gustafsson - "its nothing just a wisp of cloud"

I'm not sure I interpreted the topic correctly. Was I supposed to draw clouds that look like animals/objects?

Anyway, the idea for my sketch was my take on Jack and the Beanstalk, with lots of inspiration from Studio Ghibli's animations(I just watched Nausicaa today).

About 80-90 minutes. I struggled a lot with this one.

Edana, I like yours. Very nice colors~:D

Really, though, an inspiring thread -- and some wonderful entries, too.

And I happen to have a fixation with imagining cities and strange structures on top of / in between clouds! :)

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j108/eilidheln/764clouds.jpg

Photoshop, Painter; not sure how long it took since it was during breaks. I assume somewhere near 2,5-3 hours.

(Front structure is absolutely a placeholder. I mean to go back to it at some point and draw something nicer.)
