View Full Version : different colored shadows from same light?
shaftbond 01-16-2003, 08:02 PM Hi. I'm new here and this is my first post :) I've searched for hours and found a few threads that were similar, but never one that actually answered my question.
Is there a way in Maya to have to semi-transparent objects cast shadows from the same light with different colored shadows? The Maya help hints that it is possible with ray-tracing, but I always get black and white shadows.
I attached a file to show what I mean. I am using one point light above with the 2 different colored spheres. Can I get them to cast a colored shadow?

Look at your texture values for the objects i think one value effects teh shadow colour....

dynafx: i found the help section on Double Shading Switching, but I didn't understand how to get that to change the colors of the shadow. Have you seen any good tutorials around?
Kabab: I looked through everything I could see and unless it's a combination of attributes I didn't think of, I could find one.
How do people do stained glass windows? Do they just map the image to the shadow? That's a bummer if that's the only way to do it...
