Hi, not sure if I understand you. My MacBookPro works brilliantly. What do you mean about formatting?

i just format my mac .. re install the os.
after that it became slowly in rendering

Hi xmood - for a while after formatting the OS is making an index of the disk for instant searching, this can have an impact on performance until it's complete (usually under 1 hour, depending on how much content you have). Click on the magnifying glass top right, if it says it's indexing this will explain the slow-down.
Also make sure you're definitely running the universal binary, not the PPC version ;)

thanx chris
when i click on the magnifying glass nothing there .. just spotlight word !
no indexing thing.
any idea
and how to make the index manualy ?
thanx
The indexing goes automaticaly, but only when you first start up a new Mac (or after a new install of the OS). It takes at most a few hours, depending on the amount of files on your harddrive. This will happen only once!
The other suggestion from Chris is that you check that you have installed the UB-version of C4D and not the PPC-version. If you run the PPC-version the rendering will indeed be much slower!!

I don't know about the Intel Macs, but PPCs have a setting for processor performance in the energy saving control panel. Maybe check that?

now that is strange...was it the indexing?
dunno about any updates also would be worth applying.
btw....why did you format it in the first place?
This indexing is just Spotlight that builds a database for all searchqueries. Once it has indexed the harddrive all searching will be superfast. While indexing the Mac is a bit sluggish so people with a new mac think, hey what the heck, why is this Mac so slow... :)

sure i didn't mean indexing was strange...just his slowness problem being strange. an hour is not very long just after a rebuild to be fair and xp has this indexing also so its not just something that affects mac..when it runs etc not sure on xp though.
For me the only reasonable explanation for such a dramatic decrease in rendertimes can only mean it's not the UB-version. But we haven't heard yet if the whole system gets slow or only C4D. That could give a clue whether it's a faulty system or C4D.

Yep, I get 37 seconds on my Macbook Pro 2.0 GHz. BTW the easiest way to check if you are running the UB or PPC version of an app is to go to the Apple menu/about this mac/more info, and then select software/applications. This will list all installed apps and show whether they are universal binary or PPC.
