Zeb,
I really liked your demo reel. One main question that I have is that in your "skills" list you don't mention animation. I take it that this means that you did not do any of the main animations on you reel? Just wondering...

Wow, what a incredible amount of material!! It really rocks!!!
:buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:
Congratulations
First, a big thanks everybody.
SirRender: That's exactly what you said, i'm not animator, and by the way this is not in my skills. Most of works exposed were made at my job, it's a team work.
Anyway all shots are mainly worked by me (modeling and/or rendering and compositing).
Lonewolf: the stuff is best i made during my last 3 years at my job or during my school.

Love it! Just 1½ crit from me: 20 seconds of black can be cut from the end, and it's not really clear what you did on these shots. But I guess that can be covered in a cover letter... It's a little unclear what you did just by looking at the reel.
Oh yeah, one more thing. The celshaded sequences are mostly nice, but theone where a car pulls up to the sidewalk and picks up a girl isn't really that hot. IMO it's of lower quality than the rest and pulls the whole down a little. You don't really need that sequence since you show other celshaded works, and the reel is already pretty long, so maybe remove it and trim your reel a little... Just my 2 öre.
Still it's a very good reel!

Zeb.
Good work. A lot of potential. I think you would have a more impressive demo reel if you made it only around 2 1/2 minutes and keept the really strong work at the begining. The sequence qith the fat rats, the blue morphing guys, the airships, should all be in the begining. The phantom of the Opera stuff, unless it was 3d and you specify it, I would leave it out.
Anyway, great work and don't worry, you won't be without a job for long with work this quality.

I can't remember the last time i didn't forward through parts of a reel, but i sat through this one.
2 things:
Thing about cutting a couple sequences, while most of them are very nice, the reel gets a bit long.
We do not know what you did on each shot. Just be sure to put that in the cover letter. Or maybe a little tag in the corner of the shot...

man that was amazing! the blue bug characters and the rats were my favourite! truly great work ! whoa kinda tells me where i have to be in order to be good at this..great reel

Awesome Reel, but can be much better if you shortened it just a bit.
You've got some very strong work, and some that isn't as good as the best stuff. Get rid off all of the weaker stuff and cut it down to 2:00 or 2:30 in length and you'll have it.
As of now, I almost lost interest in the middle, but was redeemed and wowed at the end... so 4:00 is just too long.
- The beginning model rotation is weak... try imposing that title over your beast of burden still frame to catch the eye right away.
- Toon Shaded Car picking up the woman should be taken out completly.
- The phantom of the opera peice should be taken out completly.
- Those toon shaded Bone People are good, but should be much shorter, and closer to the middle.
- The "Morpion" character is good, but is on screen too long, cut his appearance in half at least.
- The Airplane Dogfight sequence is the best, put it right after your title image.
- The Rat Rock Band sequence is second best, leave it at the end to go out with a bang.
Thats what I'd do... Hope it helps.
I hope you land your dream job,
-DivideByZero-

may i just say how impressed i was with the reel dude, really nice fluid movement through out. Ok must go as im about to watch it again. Love the work
Thanks everybody for this stunning encouragements.
it make me shy ...
Lildragon:
Thanks for this award and the homepage linking. I'm proud of this distinction :)
Director B:
the song is from the Snatch movie soundtrack, Disco Science from Mirwais artist.
Lukashi:
Like i said on my reply on the middle of the first page, i'm not animator and a lot of shots from my demo reel were done at my job, so it's a team work. But shots are mainly those i get to do alone (renderin, lightining etc...) If you want more precisions about what i do on each project, look to my 3d section on my website.
urgaffel:
Thanks for this critics, i will modify the reel very soon taking consideration of your comments (the black at the end will be cutted for sure...). For precisions about what i did on the shots , go to my website... And for sure i will send a cover letter with my tape.
Ariel:
I will change the reel soon, and put the plane's stuff at the beginning i think. but i want to keep my "phantom of the opera " stuff ... Characters are extracted from shot on green background and composited with the theater which is amm 3d ... it's my school work and it's an important thing for me to keep it. :)
Dmeyer:
i'm cutting , trying to shorten the reel to 3 minutes maximum. If ya want more info about what i did, take a look to my website. I will not forget the cover letter.
Divide Zero:
Thanks for this complete critic. You're the lucky man, i think i will follow all your indication except taking out the phaantom of the opera piece (i just try to shorten it)
Danbran:
I you want to see the entire music video with the airplanes, go to my website there is a version (28 Mb) downloadable.
Fango:
Héhé i've not worked for Sparx, but this music video was made at partizan midi minuit. Merci poour ton comments ;)
So again Enormous Thanks for your support.
Bisous la baston team :)
PS: i will not be at home for the week end, so update next week i think

very very impressive zebou
i am sur le cul :applause:
Very impressive! Is the music the same song that was used in the dog chase sequence in Snatch?
I think you made a spelling mistake in the credits. Under skills I swore I saw "lightning" instead of "lighting" That's all I noticed. Everything else was perfect as far as I'm concerned.
I just Update a new version of the reel, shorter:
(3minutes exactly, with 2 m 30 of animation and 30 second of credits)
I hope u find this new version better.

Simply stellar. Great work, mate!
Exept for the above replies, there is on other thing I'm curios about.
The music. It's really cool. Did a member of your team create it? If not, what is it? Perhaps if it's a band or something, you could give some indication of this at the end of the reel.
Gotta DL the new one. I have to admit, the band sequence really made me laugh. Loved it.
Again, to pile on the praise...
Simply awsome!

The new cut is a million times better!
Your probably sick of me by now :D, but there are 3 things left that I think might make it better:
1. Move the Beast of Burden flyby shot right after the Ninja model flyby shot.
2. Move the Cell Shaded bone people right before the Morpion sequence.
3. The end credits are dull compared to what we just saw before it. Try to make them look a bit more flashy, maybe have the model rotation slowly morph to a wireframe view?
Then, you've got a damned near perfect showreel.
It's very inspirational showreel, and you should have any problems landing a good job with it.
Glad I was able to help in any form,

thanks for your compliments. But just a detail , this demo is mine, but a lot of stuff are extracted from team job anyway i did the biggest part (Modeling/Mapping/rendering/lightning/compositing, except animation) of shots exposed on the reel.

I couldn't download your reel before because it crashed while downloading... Now I've seen it and It's really well done. I'm very impressed and just wanted to congratulate you.
I love the music. I just fell in love with it in the moment I listened it in Snatch. You've made a great choice.
Je te souhaite bonne chance pour trouver un bon boulot, mais je crois que tu n'as pas besoin de chance ;) . Mes felicitations, Zeb.
