I took one of my models from XSI and worked with it in Zbrush. I've tried following any tutorials I can find and exported the mesh and the displacement map into XSI.

when I plug the map into the texture and render it out my model seems to have exploded.
anyone know about this? I've never done much with displacement maps

thanks

Carson, plug the image into an Intensity node which plugs into Displacement. You can now refine the amount of displacement.
You might also need to use a Color Correction node to modify the range of colors to be displaced. Note that the rezolution of the Disp Map plays a big role in the quality of the final render.

mick, I accually looked at those links you listed before posting. I tried re-exporting thing several different ways several different times. no luck...

I havn't been able to find a few of the options and windows that you guys listed in your process.

quake, you mentioned a colour correction. the map that i get from Zbrush doesn't have colours, it's just different shades of grey. I have a feeling this is part of the problem.

If you really want to use Z-brush and XSI, you should spent the money for the Digital Tutors DVD, its full of workflowtips and more than worth the money!
