hi there, here to thanks everyone for the awnsers to the last post i made but the person who asked for my help, didn't needed it anymore, and i'm so bottled up in work that i will have to search for it later and try to take the lesson that you may have left in there. so, thanks.

another question: i'm doing a building that has a structure like a patern similar to this:

http://psygarden.be/g1/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1818&g2_serialNumber=2

but instead of a half sphere its a half-piramid

so if i duplicate the base padron its gonna come out like a reclined square (trapezium?) so hi have to do it with both inclination turned inside, and the problem is that when selecting to delete c4d selects various parts that i dont want to delete beacause they end up in the same group(null object) of the parts that are going to be deleted.... and some times it selects the whole line.... because 1st duplication is in x to the side and then that line is duplicated up in y

there's anyway i can get a most acurate selection so i dont have to delete piece by piece? because they are a lot of pieces :)

thank you for your time!

An easy way to get what you want would be:

Get a pyramid primitive add as many segments as you need. make editable

delete the bottom polygons

Select all edges and use the edge to spline in the Stucture menu\edit spline.

put that spline and a circle splineinto a sweep nurbs.

Another option is to use the Atom array.

Make the spheres the same size as the rods for a clean look :)

Edit: file

i think i got it had no time to try this time when i opened the file, the acurate selection was doable already... it must have been the memory overload.....

sorry to bother you, but thanks anyway

It's possible that the yellow background in your layout caused temporary blindness. :)

i also dislike the color yellow but psicobable says that yellow estimulates criativity....
so i've changed it... but is toasted yellow, cause bright yellow may cause irritability and trigger epilepsy atacks in some ppl

Jim,

I've tried the edge to spline thing before and always found that the spline was incomplete (i.e. there were missing segments) so that when it came time to use sweep nurbs you ended up with most of the structure being outlined but always there were missing struts.

I there a trick to getting every edge in the structure? I may be missing something.

here's another method - select all the triangles, extrude inner by a small ammount, hit delete to delete the selected polygons, select all, enable the extrude tool and in the options pick "cap" extrude by a small ammount. and there you go.

if you need a mroe detailed approach, then y6ouc ould do it using mograph (if you ahve it) in the following way. make a pipe that you need for an edge, put it in a cloner, set the cloners mode to object, and either drag the cloner as a child of the mesh you want to use or put the mesh into the target link. set the cloners cloning mode to "Edge", check the "Scale on Edge" option then adjust theedge scale till all the "rods" fit correctly (that makes them fit the edge length).

then make the joint bit, and again clone it onto the geometry, this time using the "Vertex: cloning mode.
