hey all, here is a model i have been working on lately, I want to start texturing this guy soon, so i thought i would post some shots and see what you all thought! he is sopposed to be an athlete from the future, in sort of a "running man" style suite

the top half of his body looks good but then the proportions seems to be lost slightly and its like the style has changed to more characature¿

anyway nice start,... updates?
:curious:

I think the face looks really good. The rest is good as well, but it looks like he has a weird lump going from his hip to his butt. It may just be the angle though. Also, I'm no expert at anatomy, so take that crit with a grain of salt. But again, I think the face looks really nice. The sunken cheeks give him a haggard type of look, like he's been through a lot.

Can't wait to see more!

Ok Ben, Nick here.

First off I think your off to a great start on this guy. His proportions are good and I really like the head. From what I can see the ears look pretty good, I'd watch the temples there though, pretty sunken in, maybe a little too much. Give him some teeth and a tongue too so he can be used for lip sync. Hands look pretty good, watch around his wrists, I'd hint the there was more bone structure under his skin. I think the muscle's overall are well done, but if he's wearing a suit I think his pec's and the bottom of his rib cage look a little severe; try softening it there a bit. I'd soften up is crotch too, its looking pretty angular and that's all soft tissues under there. I think he needs knee caps, it looks concaved at his knee right now. Push it out, there's bone there. Make sure you have some good shoe referece, they look good, but the tops look kinda flat to me.

Huge progress from the last work I've seen! Keep it up!

hey ben, ray here. I think you've gotten off to a great start. the facial detail looks good, and the body proportions seem correct. I like his muscle structure, but i think there are some areas that could maybe use some anatomical reference for tweaking. the calf areas seem to be correct in overall shape, but the area where the muscle inserts in the front seems off slightly. His knee cap area as well looks a little bit sunken. I think overall though it is a strong start, and I can't wait to see the finished product.

I Like the suit. It reminds me of the Oscars guy.

A few points:
The holes for the nostril shouldn't be seperate like that. The upper lip kind of flows up into the nostril, and the openings aren't perfect circles either.

The ankles look too close to the ground, although it could be the camera angle making it look worse. If you raise them up it would bring up the back of the shoe with it to help fix that.

Also, the fingers look really skinny, probably a result of the smoothing process.

great feedback fellas! that helped a lot!

j9k_80: thanks a lot! your comments on the nose helped me out big time! i also looked at your "naked sub-d chick" for referance. here is what i have now. i am a lot happier with how this looks now.

Hello Ben,

Like I mentioned before, the temple seems to be in too much and you should bring it out a tad. It seems as though his bags under the eyes are too noticable. Also, take a closer look at the ears. They appear to cubic looking, maybe try to round it up a bit on the top.

The top of the atheletes nose is seems odd. sqareness? I certainly like the facial features and the cut like jaw.. very detailed. That Nick guy was right about the rest of the body. He is in a suit and some of the details that I see (rib cage and knee caps) require much improvement.

Keep it up!

its looking good but dont try to emphasize the skull too much, the bones on the outside of his eyes dont show through like that, unless that is what you ARE shooting for, because in that case it is fairly accurate. But to me it looks odd and out of place, because in other places, you have very muscular facial features, so i dont think one part would be muscles, and another part be skinny enough that you can see elements of the skull.

kay have fun

BTW the uniform he is wearing is one a bobsledder would wear, visa happens to be his sponsor! (even virtual athletes need sponsors....hehe)

anyway, lemme know what you think of it! C&Cs welcome!

Looks good sedric.

You might want to check the weights in his crotch. Not sure if its the compression but it seems to twitch when his arms move.

hmmm...interesting observation mr. jagger.....but i just scoured the componant editor for any trace of arm influence on the groin/crotch area and came up with nothing....so it must be that pesky DivX!!

i'm liking this very much man!!! the shoulders bend a little and that doesn't look too natural, but it's still pretty good. and the front of his neck looks a little flat. (where the collar of his shirt is)

overall, i really likeit.

hey all, thanks for the crits, i will try to do a little more work on those pesky shoulders. i will try to make another animation in the next day or so that is a little slower paced. im not really much of an animator, so you will have to bear with me on the quality(hehe). anyway i was texturing his face last night, and decided to make a wee facial animation test. and i thought i would share it with you!! here it is!

Oh I mean Rohan, not your model. The model looks great, cept that he is bald.

I still think that when his eyebrow raises it looks like his eye socket raises instead, like the skull is the piece actually moving and not the eyebrow. Oh well, you thought that Goldmember was a good movie so what do you know

(shamelessly increasing my post count thanks Ben:thumbsup:)

anyway, lemme know what you think of this one, i just hope it doesnt cause the same massive flood of posts that some of my other animation clips have caused...(hehe)
