It's the first time I post some of my stuff on the boards so be indulgent. Ok, I'm doing an Ifrit (remember Final Fantasy 8). Sure you do. But I'm not trying to make a 100% replica. I'm doing an Ifrit and that's about it.... a little more cartoon for the face and I've still not decided what to do with horns.... I could have made an original character but a lack of drawing talent (not imagination) pushed me do work on an already designed character... so dont compared to what the guys of Square could have done with a hi-rez Ifrit please! And remember... it's a work in progress... I'm working on the head now... I'm waiting for hints and comments...

thats elite you finally decided to post your work, this is an intimidating forum, i posted my first work just a few weeks ago and it was scary, but well recieved. I learned a lot. Although i havne't played final fantasy 8, i'd have to say i like the model so far. I cna't think of any critiques, great job :)

you should make the upper arms bigger...at least as wide as the forearms
it would be more realistic and the character might also look more evil
for toon, the head is great(otherwise it would be to smooth)...i think, the teeth are a very important fact in making him looking evil...i'd make them a bit extreme or so(especially cause it will be a toon-character and not a realistic fantasy char)

beside these things, nothing to crit ;)
looks really great....can't wait to see the final

P.S.: this is my first posting :buttrock: wanted to wait with my first posting, til i'm finished(or at least a good looking wip) with my new project

Very nice modeling
I have a few suggestions for you.
I am a long time final fantasy fan.
I think you should emphasize his power in the shoulders, making him more bulky on top. Make his lat muscles stick out from his sides a ridiculous amount and that should make him look more menacing. I think if you do the shoulder thing and leave his forearms bigger than his biceps he will look more animal like and have the whole popeye/ape thing goin for him.

great work man.

details looking pretty good...especially the foot and the arms, look so natural
but not the body, looks flat..i guest your still working on it.

hmm...also it needs more veins, put some on the arms and plain areas etc...looks kind of like plastic at the moment.

yeah. Goodwork!

Thx for your comment! Really appreciate! Ok, I'll attach a newest pics of the Ifrit... the other one was an older one but I paste a render of the head on it... I'm happy to see that I've already figured out some of the crits you said... like for the abs and pectorals. They were flat... I bumped them a bit so it looks more round... what else.... I made the forearm bigger cause I liked the proportion with the kind of character an Ifrit is. In fact... all the reference I got of Ifrits had bigger forearms. Veins and stuff like that are coming at the hand... I'm trying to avoid this fore now to keep the model simpler for futur correction. And I dont want to overload the model with to much details. But there will be big veins on bicep and stuff like that... I'll keep the the idea of bigger shoulder. I like it and I'll probably mess with this once the head is stiched to the neck!! Of course I have still alot to do on the head... I didn't even touch the lower jaw yet... I intend to be able on make good facial animation... so I have to make the inner mouth and all the teeth... After that.... HAIR time! :D I hope not to have to much complication... working with XSI... I haven't tough of the textures yet but it's the only thing I've never really done in 3D (I mean character texturing).... kinda scare me... and the horns on the pics have been done in 10 minute for proportion purpose!!
