View Full Version : Messiah newbie question
TSITRA 07-03-2006, 12:37 PM I loaded a ZBrush model and created a simple skeleton inside of it, but when I move the skeleton using the IK_Goal the moving skeleton is having no effect on my model. I searched the messiah_docs tutorials but still can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Could someone please help me.

I don't mean "I took at look at it to see if it answered my question," I mean actually did it, step-by-step? If not, you should. In general, it's always best to try out new tools or features in the simplest way possible; the more stuff you try to pile on, the harder it is to troubleshoot. For example, if you're learning about keyframing and the motion graph, just experiment with a bouncing ball, not a scene with 50 fully rigged characters and tons of deformation fx. (Yes, there are people who do stuff like that as their first project.)
You can also take a look at the bones tutorial video on their site. One thing it doesn't mention (though it shows it) is that the mesh needs to be selected in the Item List before you add the bone deform effect. (The effect gets added to whatever is currently selected.) The video is only two minutes long, so it's not a great time investment. I've found the videos there to be extremely helpful and quite often they're really funny.

Thankyou very much for your help, problem solved. I didn't realise that I needed to select the mesh in the item list before adding the bone deform effect. Thanks again.
