Ok, this is a bit startling.
First the title says "the rise and fall of the purple", but the topic says "the rise and fall of the purple monkeys".
Then the title says "time limit: 30 minutes", and the rules say "no time limit"
(I apologize, my tester side speaking :P)
And then the topic is O_o.
But anyway, and no matter how O_o is the topic, here's my piece, 30 min, photoshop+tablet.

This were exactly my thoughts, too. I got totally confused by everything :D Also I have no idea what to paint so ... I am a little without inspiration ^^
Anyway, funny image :) Without faces your monkeys really look crazy :D I like how you painted the "rise and fall" nice idea ;)

danielh68: Your monkey looks like a pirate or something? This was also some thought I had... to take "purple monkeys" as a rock band or something like that ;) I like this image.

erilaz: I don't understand if I see the rise or the fall or both? Maybe you want to write a few sentences? :D

Yeah, and I also forgot another bug... Where did sketch 757 go? I mean I did the 756, deep blue, and then... 758, this one. Roberto, are you OK?

And thanks Trunks for the comment. I have considered painting faces, but it didn't make it better, leaving them like that has a weird but interesting feeling. Since the topic is O_o, it fits :)

Yeah, I didn't read the topic correctly. I thought it just said "Purple" and figured it was an open-ended kind of thing. In any case, I like your submission. The faceless monkeys are definitely eerie :)

Well thanks for the comment :) (even if the person who you quoted and the one painting faceless monkeys isn't the same)

So as for the confusion, I read like you, I only figured it was about monkeys when seeing the first entry. I went frowning, then I read the rules and saw the "monkey" that was not in the title.
To say, the kind of thread that confused everybody :)

To clear the numbers: Roberto opended 755 two times. One was "Despair" (the right 755) and the other "New York, New York!" (which should have been 756) After this he took the deep blue as 756 and than I don't know why he skipped 757 ;)

You should start some anatomy studies and learn painting faces. When I remember right, a few days ago the 50head anatomy learning workshop (or something like that) started. Maybe you want to join? :)

Oh I can paint faces , I just tried to paint some on my monkeys and it looked weird. And it would have taken too much time... Faces only wouldn't have fitted the theme... I'd join some other threads but I usually spend the rest of my extra time on a Photoshop piece I'm painting. (and there's a face in it on which I've been working the past few days)
