Hi guys,

I put together some stuff I find useful when working with textures into a form of tutorial. Its pretty long, so instead of writing everything here again I am posting screen shoots.

I'd also like to add that use of the Histogram is extremely important when snapping for textures. Some of the better cameras will give you the option of seeing it when you take the photo. It gives you a good idea of tonal distribution and if the highlights are too contrasted.

Also shoot in raw format if thats possible. It will allow you to reduce overexposure, as well as setting the white balance AFTER you've shot the picture. This is really useful I found, and I use it whenever I can.

Thanks for sharing the useful information in a clear easy to follow format, my son is using this now to take pictures and make a few of his own textures. This tutorial along with a few Photoshop tut's got him started. Thank you for sharing, and I also agree you have a great skill for teaching. I hope you add more tutorials to the list.
