View Full Version : How can I identify a constraining object?

OK, so you select an object in the explorer, drill down into the Kinematics, and find that there are constraints set. You can select the constraint and there are all sorts of options, but...

absolutely nothing indicating just exactly what the constraining object actually IS. I can't believe this information wouldn't be readily accessible, I must be missing something?! And would it be possible to reassign the constraining object without having to delete and create a new constraint? I'm feeling a little stupid about all this.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Ah, I see that you can right click and select constraining objects in the explorer (would be nice if the info were reflected in the constraint PPG). Still wonder if you can reassign the constraint to a new object.

right click, eh? Thanks. I only knew of identifying it via schematic view.

I wish you could type in names for the constraints...

a) you can click the eye on the viewport bar and check "relations"
or
b) type object name in MCP selection box and type constrain name in the box below it (that one with 3 triangles next to it)

As for changing constraining object a simple script would do the trick (store constrains parameters, then reapply it to new objects). There is a script in net view which does the opposite, ie. duplicates all constrains to new constrained object.

Hope it helps

That's actually a really good idea.

I wanted to do a piano project, but trying to do 88 pos constraints seemed unfeasible.. Decided to put that idea on hold..
