Vue is an absolutely brilliant app. and those boys at E-on work really hard, they are always releasing a new upgrade, plugin or patch. well done :)
yolao, yes indeed, you can create totally unique and new environments. Give the trial a go

Vue is all in one package for creating astounding landscape and environement images ! you can model with basic tools primitives, boolean, plants tree, use ecosystem, plants editors, animations, powerful render quality, clouds editor, lights editor,...and really much more !
Material editor is really strong with wiring editor...
You can really create all dreaming pictures with this applications !
Vue Infinite have more tools like polygonal reduction, baking !, skybox dds,...
I discover vue since 1 month and I never regret my buy !
For summer I will organise a little contest with E-on, tvpaint, spiralgraphics...there is vue licence to win ;)

Its not an all in one package. Its a landscape generator.

I agree, I would to say ='all you need to creating landscape and environement' As I discover Vue, this software have all you need for creating this kind of pictures !
Sorry for mistake ;) But it's not only a pur landscape generator, Terragen is more like a pur landscape generator and opposed to vue who have all the tools for creation.
In my opinion Vue is landscape & environement, but you can add 3d objects, animating Human from poser, plants library, nodal editor,...
in basis vue and terragen is the same kind of tools, so until terragen 2 vue is far away from him...
but there is also WCS, world builder, Mojoworld,...:)

Did anyone see the teaser?
If that was TOTALLY rendered in V6 then I guess the noise's gone forever!
Still, we need to know if the awkward lighting in V5 is gone. Time for Siggraph I guess.
Just seen the teaser too. The little preview of the clouds fly-through looks good, except for the camera motion- for me it seems to wobble far too much making me not want to enjoy and re-watch it as much as I should.
Still, it's been a long time since I upgraded so if this MetaCloud thing is good I will proably go for it. I like Vue d' Esprit.

The noise is gone because they probably had all the settings cranked up so high, that teaser is all they could do. If we have to do an animation in Vue 5I in order to get it noise free, the settings are so high, it takes forever. I can only imagine the render times for true volumetrics.

I pre-ordered Vue5 Inf with some pretty big expectations. Part of the marketing was it's linking with other 3D apps. (this was Pre xStream)
Vue5 Inf can create great images, and its best suited to that. Given time with the program Vue can create some impressive imagery. But to do animations is something else. Its a real stretch to call it an animation program as some basic keyframe animation functions fall short of what many might expect.
Yes - It is a potentialy powerful program but unfortantely it is nagged by bugs and features that aren't implemnted as well as they should be. When it comes to animation, Vue5 Inf feels half baked. Now with 6 being announced, anyone who owns 5 and may as well wipe their plate clean.
