I almost stopped posting more, mere seconds after i posted this thread, my explorer was being all mean and i had to end the task i couldn't restart it for some reason so i saved my scene and saved a backup just in case. After the restart my original scene was currupt and my backup never saved at all, anger insued but to make a long story short, thank god for autobackup.

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/1562/chevy29xm.jpgHere's a small update, i'm having some problems with the raytracing though as you can see. In max, Is there a way to have the raytraced material not relfect the world but only an image that i assign to the reflect map?

Well here's another small update. The headlight was a pain to weld in but i think it turned out pretty well, It's all starting to come together now.
Any comments greatly appreciated.http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/4231/chevy54ah.jpg

I'm liking that :)
I still suggest painting it a 'chipped' and 'old / rusted' red... but its looking good so far until you do that :)

Very, very nice job.
Two crits : The edges around the door need to be sharper, and the mesh of the front fenders is a bit messy. It doesn't seem to give strange reflections so far, but maybe you should try to fix it.
Keep it up!

The reason for the bad wireframe is because i had to cut and weld in the headlight. It's all still uniform though, do you think i should still change it if it doesn't affect the overall look?

Edit: oh and i already fixed the doors.

One reason to try to keep all quads is that it can give weird reflection with a very shiny paint. It seems that it's not the case here, but a clean mesh is always nicer ! I always try to keep al quads, it's just a personal satisfaction, kind of a challenge.

I really like how the bed of the truck turned out. Also I see you fixed the door and the front.
Keep it up!

Hi Kyle !

Thanks for the clay render : it's easier to see if something's wrong (or not !). No big crit today, exept the tires : make the side walls bulge a little. And there's something pointing through the roof.
I just noticed : there must something wrong in your mesh, just behind the top of the door. Damn clay render !
