View Full Version : ai format
Polou 06-30-2006, 04:07 PM Hi guys,
I've been trying to import a drawing (.ai format Illustrator) with Blender = no luck so far.
Probably it's because I'm not sure on ... Import Paths (.svg.ps.cps.ai.Gimp) means...!
Can you help please, thanks.

You don't say what your specific problem is, but I'll guess that it is related to Illustrator version. You need to make sure that you save your AI file in Illustrator 8 (or earlier) format. After v.8 Adobe changed the AI file format a bit - a lot of software that supports AI files can't read the newer format.
When you select "Import Paths (.svg, .ps, .eps, .ai, Gimp)" there will be a sub-menu allowing you to specify the exact format. On the AI imports, you may also need to make another selection on what embedded color/brush information to use (I haven't seen a specific use of this).

Thanks 85point5
You're right it was an illustrator version.
I think I will try with Gimp just for the fun of it
Again, thanks.
