a mirror effect

Hi people...
I have to make an effect and I was thinking about how to do it.
There's a girl that touch a mirror, then the camera go in the mirror and the feel is like the girl is touching the screen. When she touch it I have to do the effects that the mirror starts break and finally all the piece is falling down. Is it possible to make it all in AE or is better to do a with 3d?

There's a shatter feature in After Effects but I don't have an idea how to use it. It should be in the help features and stuff.

Could be definetely done in AE.
To get it realistic needs playing around the settings, gravity etc.
There are loads of shatter tuts online. If you google it you'll find them.
Go to Creative Cows Ben Unguren Shatter tut, toolfarm, ayatoweb (ayato@web), and AE postforum.
