View Full Version : Symmetrical PolyModelling ?
LXStalker 01-15-2003, 09:59 AM is there a way to do symmetrical polymodelling in Maya 4.5 ? I know itīs possible to sculpt symmetrically with artisan, but is there a way to have the same effect by simple pulling vertices like it is possible in XSI ?
or any ideas for a workaround ?
thnx in advance :)

Nope there isn't a symetry map as far as I know.
But you can work around it.
Duplicate half of the model your working on as an instance.
then scale it -(your current x value).
Thats what I do.

thnx rudity... iīve hoped somebody could point me to a new way to do this. or anybody knows a script which does that.
i already knew the mirrored instance method, but i thought there was something more comfortable developed since the last time i used Maya ;)
thnx anyway! ;)

@leszek
thnx for the tip.. i tried it, but i think with the mirrored instance method youre still faster... but the script has other nice options which made it good to have..
btw: to start it, just copy it to the script folder of your profile and then start Maya..
to activate the script type smuWin (Case sensitive) in the command line at the bottom and press enter.
