Thank you again Ivan. I've seen those written tutes also, but your videos actually leaves me wanting to try this myself. The written ones did not do that.

No problems, its my pleasure...As a matter of fact I'm in the process of uploading a couple more tutes on multiple eco system creation, I'm adding them into the terrain creation folder..I'd like your opinion on weather or not I used the correct technique..as you were the one that brought it to my attention and basically explained how to do it. If you get a chance to download and check them out, let me know if thats how you would do it.http://forums.cgsociety.org/images/icons/icon13.gif

Well Ivan, firstly I'm just a dabbler so don't pay to much attention to what I say. The way I do it differs somewhat from your method, I'm not saying that my way is any better, but here goes: Lets say I have a terrain with a grass material, as you have in the video. Grass is a mixed material. I then dobble click on material 1 and then in the new panel make this a mixed material. I then copy the material from the left material to the right one so they are both the same. I close the panel and do the same thing with material 2. Now I have 4 materials, 2 of each, that I can populate with ecosystems. If I then follow your example from the video and populate each ecosystem as I make them, I also get fewer instances for each ecosystem. However if I, when I've closed all the panels exept the first one, clear and populate again I get roughly the same number of instances in each ecosystem. If I chose to give material 1 two ecosystems and material 2 just one, the latter wil have twice as many as the first. That's my experiance anyhow. Hope this makes some sence.

Thanks nanaboso....That seems to be a much better way to do it..I'll make a tute on that and add it to rest..With that method you can create heaps of ecos... Learning heaps, as I have only had vue for a few months.( i got vue two weeks before I created the vue to LW videos)Making the videos forces you to learn, I love it and if it helps someone thats cool too.
Thanks again...http://forums.cgsociety.org/images/icons/icon13.gif

Hey Ivan been watching a few of your vids, they are quite good, im getting them for my cousin who doesnt know much about vue, but is wanting to learn. Any chance you could upload the terrain tutorials to rapidshare as well, having a few problems downloading them. (and there is no terrain tutorial 3 on the website, dont know if this is on purpose or not).
Cheers

No probs..I'll zipp them all up and upload to rapidshare and I'll put a link in this thread...The reason there is no 3, is because "2 revised" was going to be 3, and when i uploaded it i got rid of the original 2...make sense. Any way there all there..I'll try to do it tomorrow night.

Alright, thanks man.. Yeh the reason why i didnt know if they were all there, was because i could only download 1 and 2, the the rest wouldnt download (hence the reason i asked for them to be put on rapidshare) so i couldnt tell if the 4th would come straight after the second.
Thanks man

Hey people..Here's the link to the foamy shoreline and terrain videos...
http://rapidshare.de/files/25827482/Vue_Video_Tutes.rar.html
If its your first time at rapidshare...do the following..
click the link
go to the "free" icon (bottom right) click.
then you have to wait 45 seconds, and the download link will become available.
type in the 3 letters, download..
..The reason terrain 3 video is missing (had a think) is because, in the "create terrain" thread Mark replyed and added a video (#3) on cropping the terrain (something I missed), hence the revised tute, I made video 2 again adding the new bit Mark pointed out....anyway have fun.

Wonderful! There is never enough information on Vue I can get my hands on! :applause:
I just hope what I learn will also apply to Vue6...
