Yes, there are import and export options for .igs files.

I haven't used them myself so I don't know how well they work, but they're definitely in there.

Thanks Speccysteve. see i looked on XSIs websit on file types and didnt see that file type. Ok so about how hard is it to UV map something in XSI .... coming from Lightwave and seeing as lightwave or Modo do not have any of those file types. and taking this igs file how hard in xsi would you think it be to map it

Modo's "unwrap" function is pretty good, and whilst XSI has a third party pelt mapper, I find it's basic (used most often) tools win the day.

I know nothing about LW/Modo but Yog does, so listen to him.:)

For future reference here's a list of XSI filetypes btw.

You might have to register to enter the site, but it is worth it. Also worth looking at the videos on how the plug-in works.

I completely agree. XSI is the only one of these programs that actually treat UVs like UVs and not polygons. This really makes a difference when UV mapping. Also, the 3dtutoral PST2 Part1 (I think) video tutorials do a great job of showing how to use the UV tools.
