It looks quite good, I thought the CG looked very CG though. If you look back at spidey 2 its shocking how poorly its aged (effects wise) I hope the same wont be true for 3.

Looks a fun film though! I am finding it hard to get excited about anything except Pirates at the moment :) Ill re watch it after that has calmed down.

Cant really judge it on that teaser though, you can make any film look the best ever in a teaser.

edit - Hmmm after watching it a second time all I could think was how predictable the film looks, there doesnt seem to be anything new or unexpected. Sure it looks good fun, impressive and action packed but it needs to be more than just a rehash of 1 and 2.

I'm glad, as I liked 1&2 to my suprise (you know, didn't expect much from the given; guy being bitten by a radioactive spider en becoming..well..a spiderman;-). I liked the series on t.v. years ago, but I wasn't impressed like I was with the movies.

Elfman and Raimi butted heads, and Elfman left. He felt too creatively stifled apparently. I think it's largely because the score is a sequel as well, so there's already an established theme. Elfman has been butting heads with quite a few directors lately. I think he's probably just a very talented and very stubborn guy. We all know the type, right?

I can't wait loved one, two left me unsatified(too much Peter not enough Spidey). When I go to a super hero movie I want to see the super hero. When I see Superman I hope to god I'm seeing just that Superman, not Clark Kent dealing with Clarks problems I want super hero action.

Am I the only one who thinks this is just going to be a rehash of spidey 1 and 2.

Spidey again! is wondering if he wants to be spiderman. His love life is in ruins because of this and he falls for the new girl. At the same time Mary Jane is getting all mushy and going after one of the new villians.

From that trailer it looks like the goblins back in the form of Harry, hes seaking revenge. 2 new villians come into play with slightly different super powers this time around.

Spidey looses all the battles whilst hes in his 'depressed and lonely state'. Close to the end he realises he needs Mary Jane back, she will realise she needs Peter back. He will decide for the third film in a row he wants to be superman, oops sorry spiderman and he will just get the strength (from his new floppy hair powers) to defeat the new films villians in one large climactic fight at the end.

From what ive in that trailer thats all the films going to be, spidey 1 and 2 with slightly different villians, and if this is the case then really I dont see it being much cop.

Sure its going to have impressive CGI (hopefully) and fight sequences that will top spidey 2 but it has to be more.

At this point I dont see it being that. I really! want it to be more, and supprise me... oh well fingers crossed.

The first 2 were overall pretty happy and mainly dealt with Peter and MJ's relationship. The 3rd is going to be a lot darker and Peter will now have to deal with his own demons, Harry, and MJ who both know he is Spiderman. It may seem like a rehash because we've seen 2 movies already.

for a teaser this sure gave a lot away to any comic book fan.

the only unclear part in my mind is how they will handle the symbiot, will it be alien brought in the space ship of Jameson's son like in the cartoon series, since jamesons son was introduced in 2? Seems it soaks into his costume rather than being a costume.

Captain stacey was one of the credits the the blonde is obviously Gwen stacy, which Harry I asume is the one the ring is for, harry will most likely kill her. The emo look is the deep depressed parker controlled by the symbiot. I've no clue how Sandman fits in, all this, but its obvious Eddie brock will be rivaling peter most likely as a photographer if its anything like the comics, and is present in the bell tower where he sees parker ripping off the suit it will find him thus creating Venom for movie four.

Hmm.. didn't he get the black suit in Secret Wars, when his own suit got thrashed in a fight? (a huge device in Central Park attracted alot of superheroes that, when entering it, got teleported to another galaxy). Spidey got home and used the new suit for some time, but when he discovered that the suit controlled him when he was asleep, he went to Red Richards (Fantastic Four) who helped him to remove the suit. The suit, however, wasn't dead, and to my knowledge, it escaped it's prison in the FF-building and overtook someones body and became Venom?

Why are so many people talking about Spiderman 4 and even 5 and 6. I know Sony has said they want to do six, but the director and cast have said they wouldn't do it.

That means that if they do get made, it will probably be a ways off. And why would a screenwriter or director set something up in one movie, to "maybe" have it paid off by some other director in the future, if the movie gets made and if the director agrees with the original vision.

Obviously movies aren't made this way, especially superhero movies. That's why they kill off the villians in every superhero film. What's the point of leaving it open ended if there may not be a next time? Unless they shoot films back to back (Pirates, LotR, Matrix) they don't have the luxury of setup and payoff over the course of multiple films.

I think Venom will be created at the beginning of the final act and be full force by the finale. Keep it as a trilogy, movies work nicely that way.

I agree Heney. Everything I've read and seen is that Raimi is done after three as well as the rest of the cast. I don't think they are setting things up for a part 4. My prediction is this. Sandman is there as well as the green goblin fighting Spidey through the first of the film while Spidey is dealing with the black costume issue. Spidey probably defeats Sandman somehow after rejecting the symbiot but Venom is created and is so powerful that Spiderman and Green Goblin (being Peter's friend, throws his hate aside) have to work together to fight him.

I agree with Heney aswell, 3 might be the last film, and if they are going to go with the Black Widow (Symbiote Spidey) it's likely to be an introduction to venom. Since in the comercials you see him tearing the suit off, it doesn't really scream ending, I mean, why would they show the ending to the film in the first trailer, a year prior to release. Thats more likely to happen towards the middle or late beginning in my opinion, the shuttle crash sequence (they have JJ's son as an astronaut and there isn't enough time to include the secret wars and Marvel if I recall correctly has stated that there will be no combining of superheros in films lest it turn to AVP or more appropriately Marvel versus Capcom) will probaly be the opening with Spidey saving the day and gettin the symbiote while he's at it.

Then we see Sandman show up, and in the comics Sandman was Venom's first victom. So that scene where you see sand showing up at the train and being attacked by Spidey might be his death. Which would lead Harry to go back to his line of thinking that Spider-man is a killer and needs to be dealt with. This would be the point where Spidey rips off the suit after killing Sandman and Eddie finds it in the bell tower and becomes Venom. Then Venom wreaks havok on New York and Spidey is blamed, which makes Harry feel justified with taking the serum and becoming Green Goblin 2 (they'll probaly call him hob goblin lest people get confused) and going out to kill Spidey. Now Spidey has to deal with Venom running around causing mass mayhem and destruction and the retribution that he'll get from Gobby for it. Or atleast that's what I think

and just as an aside, how exactly do you defeat someone made of sand? it just doesn't seem possible. he can bleed to death or drown or pass out from lack of oxygen....i vaguely remember one comic where spidey actually uses a vaccuum cleaner to beat him....no joke...

In regards to the quality of CG in the teaser, it's a year off, those shots will just get better as they continue to work on them. I've done plenty of trailer/teaser shots that are never finaled shots, they continue to get worked on of course. They were probably pushing this for a showing at Comicon, I know of a few other comic movies that will be there as well =)

Sandman will be killed (or almost killed) by Spidey, that's why Sandman is in the movie. To show us the symbiot is "evil". Spider Man needs to deal with his good and bad side. He will either get rid of the suit before fighting Harry or after having almost killed him. Something like that.

No, that's Spidey with the symbiote attatched to his suit. Venom will probaly lack the webbing and look a bit different from the comics (I recall something about it being a slightly more muscly all black spiderman, which sucks because the total change the symbiote had for Eddie showed the real extremes of it's power and evil when driven insane by someone with an inferiority complex) As for a to be continued, I doubt they're going to do that as this may very well be the last Spidey film, the actors are leaving and the director isn't sure about staying on either if I recall.

Sandman wil be the first half while Spidey is dealing with the symbiot taking him over. He will get rid of the symbiote and it will take over Brock who becomes Venom towards the middle. Venom will stop Sandman and Harry and Spiderman will have to work together to deal with Venom. (my guess)

I've also heard that Venom was going to be mostly all CG so it wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't even completed in shots yet.

I've seen the aformentioned venom trailer, before the official one came out, it's some good add in work, but they essentialy copied in pictures and recordings over top of scenes from Spiderman one and two, the dialog is the same and Venom is a rubber suit in that trailer. I don't think Harry and Spider-man will be able to work together, because first off Harry has gone mad with the serum, still wanted to kill Spider-man even after he saved his life. But maybe they'll find a way they can agree on it, maybe not.

I personaly think that Harry will be going after Spidey as retribution for his acts as symbiote Spider-man and the havok caused by Venom later on, which most likely will follow the pattern of the last two films and be blamed on Spidey.

It kind of sucks they are pulling so much from two great spidey plots (green goblin story & Venom story), which only means it will be totaly watered down and nerfed in to some crappy plot... another one on my rent list to say the least.

next movie? if I recall, the actors only signed on for 3 films and with the actors gone (they aren't interested in coming back for more, atleast Dunst isn't) and the director leaning towards leaving I don't think there will be a 4 and if there is it probaly won't be too good with the complete change over. Also why would they show the ending (spiderman getting rid of the suit) in the first teaser.

The movie looks like its going to be great. However the new black custom looks junky. I don't know why they have to change both the black suit design and the green goblin designs. Made the latter look like a power ranger. If the movie will make a lot of money I'm sure they will make even more sequels. They don't have to use the same actors. And also I have a feeling they will change the plotline quite a bit so it should fit in a 2 hour film.

Nice to get a taste for the movie already. It'll definitely looks to be an interesting film. I'm just looking forward to seeing how they are tying all these story lines and characters together especially since they have so many.. Bringin in the whole Stacey/Parker/Watson love story, Harry's issues and revenge, Sandman, and not to mention the Symbiote story.. I mean that's a lot to pack into a 2.5+ hour movie..

The fact that they have a plan for 3-4 villains for Spider-Man to battle in this one.. yes I did put a 4 in there. Arad has admitted to it, tho it has yet to be revealed. They are thinking possibly revealing it at Comic Con, tho they are not sure.. Interview (http://www.ifmagazine.com/new.asp?article=3028). Should definitely be interesting to see who gets thrown into this mix..

I definitely have a little skepticism for the Stacey story line, since they've already cemented into most of the audience's(at least those non-comic fans) mind that MJ has always been Parker's love since childhood. They didn't meet until Aunt May and Anna Watson set the two up on a date. Not too long after Gwen comes into the picture and Parker's relationship with her ensues. Tho MJ and Gwen still compete for Parker's attention and affection.. there's just a lot there that it will be interesting how the story goes for this movie..

On a different note, I think I'm with many when I say what's with the new Goblin look? It's horrible.. He looks like a friggin helmet-less Power Ranger. He's flyin around on a snowboard with lights for heaven's sake.. He on the his drug kick already??

Was nice to hear that Venom's actually supposed to look a lot like the comic version according Thomas Hayden Church. So that's definitely another WOO.. lol

Hey Zimm, I think the direction they are going with the stacey/parker/watson love tirangle is to take advantage of the symbiot. Basicallly parkers changing because of it, becoming darker exploring new sensations as he did in the comics. his whole attitude is changing, so maybe his taste in women does too, perhaps Gwen is a little more wild than MJ and that apeals more to park'ers darker side etc. etc.

On a different note, I think I'm with many when I say what's with the new Goblin look? It's horrible.. He looks like a friggin helmet-less Power Ranger. He's flyin around on a snowboard with lights for heaven's sake.. He on the his drug kick already??

Im sure thats his ghetto prototype suit that he quickly pust together just to fight peter, which is realistic. Its kind of like peters first spiderman outfit he wore in the wrestling match. Im sure he will have a better suit for the final battle.

Three villains?

Batman nearly collapsed with just two.

Still, looks frickin SWEET.

Technically there were three in batman, since Falconi counted as a villain. And he didn't nearly collapse, that movie was the best comic book adaptation I've ever seen.

This looks awesome, too, though. Who knows though, maybe we won't see venom, only get the hint of him until the next movie.

Yeah, LucentDreams, that is a possible route they may take since there have been some artistic licensing on this franchise, some good, some bad. To help prove Parker's continual change due to the suit. Tho in the comics, Mj was the wild one and that's why Parker ended up chosing Gwen. It wasn't until her death that MJ realized that she needed to calm down. We'll just have to see how they do it all..

You put up a pretty interesting theory there.. definitely a good possibility. I mean if you truely wanted retribution and revenge you're not going to wait until your elaborately construted suit is finished, you are going to don something quick and easy and go kick ass.. Tho wonder why he doesn't use the mask, since he does come across it at the end of the 2nd one, along with the rest of the arsenal.. well maybe he does, but just ends up taking it or having it knocked off durin a battle with Spider-man..
