Hi,

This is a real time dynamics/expressions simulation of a robot that collects some balls into a basket while avoiding some obstacles.

The simulation mimics real life robots :
I used impulses to move the robot .
I used friction to simulate breaks

The brain is a chain of expressions , calculating the distance to the target , while looking out for obsticales and adjusting the impulses/friction accordingly.

The brain also controls a series of joints , which moves arround a (passively dynamic) claw that catches the balls (active dynamic).

Very cool :D

Can't crit much as I wouldn't know where to begin. Might be cool to add a counter-balance that extends to compensate for the claw arm overbalancing it.

How does it manage with moving or dynamic obstacles?

it's on MAYA 7.0
about the obsticale's it anticipates the colition using the velocity curve and adds an impulse tangentional to that obsticale

wow, my only crit is it seems to know where the balls are, maybe give it a field of view so that it only goes to pick up balls it can see, then it will scout about until it see's the next
