View Full Version : Making the Glow effect on spaceship rockets
Cinderno4 01-15-2003, 01:58 AM Alright, I'm a begginer at this stuff and havn't made too many things yet, so I thought I'd make a simple spaceship with mostly primitives. I drew a basic plan on a sheet of paper and I'm in the process of making it. However, I can't get my rockets' glow to glow. I modeled the rockets and put a free spotlight inside them. I was going for the star wars type rocket glow (it looks kinda like an x-wing anyway) so I turned the light's color to blue. Since everything went black, I added sunlight so I could see. The light shoots straight out of the rocket until it hits something. I added a volmetric light modifier so I could see it. I adjusted the falloff and hotspot things but I can't get a satisfactory result. Can anyone give me any help at all on star wars style/ modern scifi style rocket lights glow and techniques? I'm using 3DS 4.2. Thanks in advance.

When you want see glow effect you must render your scene with Video Post in Max. Yor object must have set G-bufer number and the same nuber must be set in glow efect properties. See help in Max there is all you need about Glow efect and Video Post.

All plugins which work under 3DS MAX 4 work under 3DS MAX 5 because SDK under MAX 5 was not change.
