Software Designer/R+D Engineer
Immediate start through until May 2007

Double Negative is looking for an exceptional Software Designer/R+D Engineer. This position is an integral part of a production team working on a specific film. We're seeking someone who can stand out on a team of highly dedicated, passionate individuals driven to produce photo-real visual effects of the highest quality.

Needs to Do

• Act as architect/developer of animation production software and pipeline tools • Interface with animators and technical directors as a first line of involvement to solve production issues • Problem-solve and develop improved software systems and tools.
• Provide new program applications for use by others in production pipeline • Familiarize yourself with the existing code base • Produce clean, well-documented code that pushes the machine to its limit and rivals reality • Communicate and work well in a close-knit team environment to create exceptional work

Needs to Know

• At least two years of CG pipeline industry experience and experience with 3D modeling and rendering • Working knowledge of one or more of Shell/UNIX flavors, Perl, Python, C, C++, • Essential experience of Renderman, Maya and Maya Plug-ins • Knowledge of relational database concepts • Object-oriented development experience • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
